Copper naturally wants to oxidize over time. Bluewater Copper Works uses a high-grade protective clear finish on pieces to help preserve the coloration and protect from oxidation occuring. Environmental exposure and the specific finish can affect how copper ages. If so desired, a Verdigris chemical process can be used instead of the normal Flame-painted patina. This offers a more suitable finish for outdoor displays.
